Flemish inland navigation waste management plan

To comply with article 5.2.11.4. of the Government of Flanders Decree establishing Flemish regulations on the sustainable management of materials and waste cycles (VLAREMA) and the Convention on the collection, deposit and reception of waste on the Rhine and inland waterways, signed in Strasbourg on 9 September 1996 (CCNR (CDNI) convention), the Flemish Port and Waterways Management division has drawn up an inland waterways waste management plan. The current waste management plan, for the period 2011-2015, was approved by the Flemish minister for Environment, Nature and Culture on 7 January 2011.

OVAM (Public Waste Agency of Flanders) is the competent authority in Flanders when it comes to the management of waste materials and waste cycles. Its powers include supervision of the deposit of ship generated waste and implementation of the CCNR (CDNI) convention. More information is available through the following link :
